Reflexology is an ancient healing art in which gentle pressure is applied to the feet, hands, or ears. This stimulates reflex points that send messages throughout the body via the nervous system. This enables the body to enter a deep state of relaxation, in which self-healing and a return to optimal functioning can occur.
Reflexology is a holistic therapy that helps create balance and harmony. It is not a replacement for medical care or medication, however it can be an excellent complement to medical care. Reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat specific conditions.

Reflexology is “safe, simple, and effective” according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It is suitable for young & old, during pregnancy after 1st trimester, and in cases of chronic illness. Reflexology should be felt, not hurt; pressure is adjusted to meet the client’s comfort level. Reflexology is not recommended for deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), severe cellulitis, or where a history of unstable pregnancies is present. I offer a reduced rate for seniors.
Reflexology has been traced to 2,500 years ago in India, where the feet were believed to be a reflection of the body and the cosmos. Egypt, China, and Japan also have ancient histories of working the feet to promote health. Explorers and missionaries brought reflexology to Europe in the 1500s, where the “reflex response” was discovered.
Reflexology came to North America in the early 1900s, where Eunice Ingham, a physical therapist, discovered that the reflexes on the feet are a mirror image of all the organs, glands and parts of the body. Her map of the foot reflexes is used around the world today.
